Dartmoor: Clearing up stragglers along the East Dart

Broken Tor and Tim at the elongated outcrop

It feels quite surreal to say that this walk has meant that I have bagged every named tor between Gidleigh on the North Moor and Cornwood on the South Moor, barring one which isn't even named - yet! But it looks too good to be forgotten about, residing at SX 623 780 below Higher White Tor. I still have a long way to go, but to be able to say I've done a large patch is a great feeling, and long may it continue.

Dartmoor: Chagford to Postbridge hike (10 miles) Part 2

Assycombe Stone Row

Continuing my walk from the the 'Longstone', I entered Fernworthy Forest, taking forestry tracks and the road, before bearing right just after the bridge over South Teign, heading south, in search of the Assycombe Stone Row.

Dartmoor: Ten Tors Training Walk 5 - Postbridge to Meldon Dam (16 miles)

Sunset over West Mill and Yes Tors

Well what a walk this was going to be. I was somewhat dreading it but then also came a sense of excitement. Set off at Postbridge at about 9:15, again in the mist, skirting the base of Hartland Tor, then over to Grey Wethers Stone Circles and Long Ridge, down then up the side of Manga Hill, through Watern Tor, over Walla Brook taking tracks and Elephant Grass to reach Okement Hill. What lovely shelter! Near East Mill Tor and within seconds sun appeared and visibility was perfect. I felt that as a sense of achievement and found the cutest Foal too.

A very sentimental walk for me and one that I'll never forget.

Dartmoor: Ten Tors Training Walk 1 - Postbridge Circular Via Kestor Rock (14 miles)

Thornworthy Tor

This was always going to be an interesting day. For months I had considered doing Ten Tors, but lack of fitness, lack of teamwork, never camping, and lack of stamina and motivation brought me down. This is the first walk of many to train the team for the event in May 2018, so I gave it a try. At least I could bag a few tors along the way!
