Dartmoor: The Tors and Rocks near Scorhill

So for my 2018 birthday walk (I turned 16), I wanted to go somewhere different. I had planned Kitty Tor, deep into the high moor, but the weather was what the decisions came down to. Instead, I found a remote car park onto the moor at Scorhill, the base for our mini tor bagging session today.

Starting at Chagford, again, a much-loved place on the moor; I was planning on a 9-mile walk today, taking in lots of new bags on the way to Postbridge. The walk actually turned into a 10 and a half mile walk, and the weather was great!

Stone Tor

This was one of the weirdest walks I've done to date and that is mostly for the weather. Back at home, all was misty but I had seen Yes Tor glistening in the sun that morning on Facebook, so decided to wing it! Turned out to be a bad idea in the end, or did it? Spoiler: I still attained two new bags out of it, and two revisits, but I did miss out on a further three new bags!

Thornworthy Tor

This was always going to be an interesting day. For months I had considered doing Ten Tors, but lack of fitness, lack of teamwork, never camping, and lack of stamina and motivation brought me down. This is the first walk of many to train the team for the event in May 2018, so I gave it a try. At least I could bag a few tors along the way!
