Dartmoor: Trendlebere Down to Rippon Tor Circular (in the Snow) (10 miles)

Cosdon Hill

It seems that these days I only write a blog post if there's snow involved. I don't think anyone - even the Met Office - were anticipating this much snowfall over a short period of time. On 21st November 2024 parts of southern England received a lot of snow - in places about 20cm over the high ground - which came early for the time of year

Knowing too well that it would be careless to risk mine and others' lives by driving onto the moor proper, I parked lower down at Trendlebere Down, below the snow line.

Dartmoor: Bonehill Down and clearing up some stragglers on Haytor Down (Part 2)

Little Holwell Tor

So continuing my somewhat circular walk from Part 1, I ascended Black Hill from Lower Leighon Tor to the summit cairn at 412m, ignoring the north summit. This was a rather rough section but before reaching the top, I stumbled upon two small granite outcrops, later finding out their name of 'Black Hill Rocks North'.
